From EX3 Member to Cadet

This teen is "trying to be the best

of the best."

Jovon Wayne first joined the EX3 Ron Sandwith Teen Center because of his involvement with "Building Bridges," a partnership the Club has with the Federal Way School District.  Building Bridges works to keep at-risk youth from dropping out of school.  Before becoming a member, Jovon was falling behind in school and getting into trouble.  Staff at the Club quickly stepped up to encourage Jovon to realize his full potential.  He interviewed for an internship at the Club and thrived.  Jovon matured into a confident young man and a celebrated member at the Club. (Below:Jovon, pictured on the right.)

It is with great pleasure and much pride that we tell you, Jovon's supporters, that he is currently enrolled at the Washington Youth Academy (WYA) in Bremerton.  WYA provides at-risk youth a quality education, positive values and life and job skill training.  Jovon keeps his Club family updated by sending regular letters to the Club.  He writes, "I was scared as ever but I was ready for the change that was coming my way...trying to be the best of the best." And once again, Jovon is thriving.  He is the vice president of the WYA Cadet Council, plays on the flag-football team and because he was one of the first cadets to make Squad Leader, he was given the opportunity to see the Blue Angels at Boeing Field.  We are all so proud of you, Jovon!
